Blue Crush/Blue Crush 2 [DVD]
Double bill of teen surfing dramas. In 'Blue Crush' (2002) three friends - Anne Marie (Kate Bosworth), Eden (Michelle Rodriguez) and Lena (Sanoe Lake) - live together in a beach hut in Hawaii and live for surfing. An important competition is coming up and Anne Marie has a shot at moving into the professional circuit. However, she has to overcome doubts about her talent, and when she strikes up a tentative relationship with pro-footballer Matt Tolman (Matthew Davis), will it prove too much of a distraction in preparation for the big day? In 'Blue Crush 2' (2011), inspired by her late mother's recollections about her early life in South Africa, Californian surfing queen Dana (Sasha Jackson) decides she's had enough of Los Angeles life. Ignoring her father's pleas to enter college, she instead jets off to South Africa, where, after picking up new friends, she heads for the breakers of Jeffrey's Bay to fulfil an ambition her mother never achieved.
