Imagine That/Lemony Snicket's a Series of Unfortunate Events [DVD]
Double bill of family comedies. 'Imagine That' (2009) stars Eddie Murphy as Evan, a high-flying financial executive who has consistently put his work before his relationship with his seven-year-old daughter Olivia (Yara Shahidi). When his career goes into a downward spiral however, Evan is granted entrance into Olivia's imaginary world, where he finds the solutions to all his problems. In 'Lemony Snicket's a Series of Unfortunate Events' (2004), after their parents are killed in a fire, the Baudelaire siblings, Violet (Emily Browning), Klaus (Liam Aiken) and the infant Sunny (Kara Hoffman/Shelby Hoffman), are taken in by a succession of relatives and guardians, including kindly snake expert Uncle Monty (Billy Connolly) and their nervous Aunt Josephine (Meryl Streep). Worst of the lot though is the evil Count Olaf (Jim Carrey) who is obsessed with getting his hands on the Baudelaire children's inheritance. Imagining himself a master of disguise, Count Olaf undertakes a series of dastardly crimes to separate the Baudelaire children from their kindly guardians, and hopefully from their lives.
