Joe Dirt/Fired Up!/Year One/White Chicks/Little Man [DVD]
Collection of five comedies. 'Joe Dirt' (2001) stars David Spade as the eternally optimistic, mullet-wearing janitor who lost his parents during a trip to the Grand Canyon when he was just a little boy, and has subsequently dedicated his life to finding them. When his search brings him to Los Angeles, a big city shock-jock invites Joe onto his radio show to laugh at his backwater ways, but as Joe's story unfolds the good people of LA can't help but fall for his plucky charm. Soon everyone is cheering Joe on as he struggles against the odds to find the family he's always wanted. In 'Fired Up!' (2009) Nicholas D'Agosto and Eric Christian Olsen star as Shawn Colfax and Nick Brady, the two most popular guys at Gerald R. Ford High School. Dreading the prospect of another summer spent at football camp, the boys hatch a plan to join their team's cheerleaders at cheer camp instead, and soon find themselves awash in a sea of gorgeous young women. They have the time of their lives until Shawn falls for Carly (Sarah Roemer), the beautiful principal cheerleader, who is deeply suspicious of their motives. To win Carly over, the boys must come up with some surprising new moves to prove that Shawn's intentions are honourable before the all-important cheer competition finals. In 'Year One' (2009) Jack Black and Michael Cera star as Zed and Oh, two lazy hunter-gatherers who set off on an epic journey through the ancient world after being banished from their primitive village. 'White Chicks' (2004) is a cross-dressing comedy starring Marlon and Shawn Wayans as brothers and FBI agents Marcus and Kevin Copeland. The brothers are assigned as escorts to two wealthy socialite sisters, Brittany and Tiffany Wilton (Maitland Ward and Anne Dudek), who the FBI believe are the targets of a serial kidnapper. But the young heiresses get wind of the FBI's elaborate scheme to use them as bait to lure the kidnapper, and refuse to have anything to do with it. What option do the brothers have but to enlist the help of an FBI lab scientist to transform them into Wilton sister lookalikes and go all-out to catch their man? Finally, 'Little Man' (2006) stars Marlon Wayans as Calvin Simms, a master criminal who, with the help of his friend and sidekick Percy (Tracy Morgan), plans a daring robbery of a museum where one of the world's largest diamonds is on display. One of reasons Calvin is able to get inside secure areas is his size - Calvin is dwarf who stands less than two feet tall. While Calvin is able to get the diamond, he's nearly caught by the police while making his getaway, and stashes the jewel in a bag carried by a passerby. Eager to recover the diamond from the unwitting accomplice, Calvin and Percy figure out a way to get into his house - they dress Calvin up as a baby, and leave him on the doorstep of their home. As it happens, the couple who live there (Shawn Wayans and Kerry Washington) have been trying to have a baby, and they eagerly take the new arrival under their wing, embracing the joys of parenthood while ignoring some of the toddler's unusual behaviour.
